In May Wychwood Circle welcome Mark Clavier, former vicar of Steeple Aston and now Vice Principal at a theological college in Oxford, to come and draw on the themes in his book about Rescuing the Church from Consumerism (2013).
Have we all been drawn into pursuing a vocation as consumers? Clavier’s warnings of how a consumer culture has come to dominate our lives from childhood onwards in a quasi-religious fashion might strike all of us, maybe even those of us who would not call themselves religious. And if this same all-pervasive ‘religion’ has impacted the Church, does it even offer an alternative to shopping?
Do come on May 7th, 7pm, Wychwood Library.
For more information see the Wychwood Circle website.
