Now is the time to clean up the Wild Garden and prepare for the Winter
We are having a Working Party in the Wild Garden on Saturday 21st October, supported by the Shipton Volunteers. Please do join us if you can.
We shall be starting around 9am but join us when you can and stay as long as you are able.
We plan to have a coffee/tea/soft drinks/biscuits break around 10.15am and to finish around Noon.
Children are most welcome so long as they are accompanied by an adult. There will be jobs for all ages, talents, and strengths, so make it a family occasion.
Clearing up the Avenue. Raking and clearing up the debris under the limes. Tools needed are spring rakes. We will have large sacks to take away the debris.
Path resurfacing, we have two large piles of wood chip. Hopefully we can resurface the path along the side of the canals and part of the path along the boundary field to the east of the garden. This needs barrows, rakes and shovels.
Ivy removal from the larger trees. This requires the ivy to be removed from around the girth of the tree creating a gap of at least 3 feet. Tools needed are cutters, loppers and pruning saws.
Litter picking around the garden.
We expect to have a skip available and get rid of all the rubbish that has accumulated.
There will also be some extra jobs that come up between now and the working party!
In all cases make sure you bring strong gloves and wear stout boots or shoes!
I do hope you can join us for all or some of this session.
