It’s that time of year to show off your finest – vegetables, flowers, photos, fruit and beverages!

When – 24th August 2019

What time – 2.00 pm.

Where – Milton Village Hall

Who can enter – Anyone living in the Wychwoods and children attending Wychwood schools or with grandparents living in the Wychwoods.

Teas Raffle Prizes

The Annual Show will be held in the MILTON VILLAGE HALL on Saturday 24 AUGUST 2019 at 2pm.

Classes are open to all members and non-members living in Ascott, Milton or Shipton under

Wychwood, children attending a local school or any child with grandparents living in the

Wychwood villages.

An entry form and class schedule are attached.

 

Please return your entry by THURSDAY 22 AUGUST 2019 (4pm) to the box at Wychwood Hair Fashions,

to Di Fletcher Forest Lodge Frog Lane or

Joanna van de Poll Threeways Bruern Road.

General Tips for Successful Showing

Read the schedule carefully – put the correct number of items

Soft and hard fruits need to be exhibited with their stalks on

French beans, Runner beans, Peas and Tomatoes need to be harvested with scissors with some stalk attached

For root vegetables such as carrots cut off leaves to appro x 3 in ches

A set of evenly sized exhibits can be better than the largest (except where large are asked for)

More unusual herbs are preferred

Cover all food. Label jam, jelly and chutney with date and type

Use cellophane and waxed discs for jams and marmalade

RECIPE FOR CLASS 095

VICTORIA SPONGE SANDWICH (taken from Delia Smith, Cookery Course Part 2)

175g butter

175g caster sugar

3 large eggs

175g SR Flour

Few drops of vanilla essence

Some hot water if required

To finish

Jam

Sifted icing sugar or caster sugar

Heat oven to 170C 325F Gas 3

Grease and line 2 tins

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy

In separate bowl beat eggs add slowly

Add vanilla essence

Sieve flour add slowly folding in

Add water if required – mixture should be dropping consistency

Divide between two tins and bake for 20-25 minutes

When cool fill with jam and dust with icing sugar or caster sugar.
