Repair Cafe Sunday 8th September

You may have been to the Repair Cafe organised by SWAG at Wychwood Primary School for repairs to clothing, electrical goods, glasses and jewelery, bikes, and so on.  And enjoyed tea and cakes while you waited…
This Sunday, 8th September, SWAG announces two “added attractions” to their normal Repair Cafe ie

Apple Pressing and Harvest Swap & Share

From 1pm onwardsApple Pressing  Come and bring your apples, or pick from the Community Orchard and come and get them pressed.

2-4pm. Harvest Swap and Share.  Got a glut of homegrown carrots? Or courgettes? Or other fruits or vegetables? Whether you’ve got your own allotment or you’re growing veg in a container in your backyard we’d love you to come and swap your harvest. Even better, if you just want to share what you’ve produced.

Why is reducing food waste important?

Around one fifth of food produced for human consumption is either lost or wasted. Food wasted in the developed world goes into landfills that produce greenhouse gases.

Food loss and waste accounts for up to 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions – almost five times the total emissions compared to the aviation sector. For more details about the event on the SWAG website, see link below…
