A FIREFIGHTER has urged residents to sweep their chimneys ahead of cold winter nights, after crews hosed down a smouldering stack. A chimney caught fire in Milton-under-Wychwood near Chipping Norton at 11pm last night, but was put out after a crew clambered up ladders to dampen down the flames.

From the Oxford Mail: A peaceful village was woken in the early hours of Saturday morning during a dramatic and “frightening” attempt to steal a cash machine. Shortly after 12.30am, a dark coloured Isuzu Trooper was driven to the front of the Co-op on Shipton Road in Milton-under-Wychwood.
The village’s annual flower and produce show will be taking place on Saturday 27th August in the Milton-under-Wychwood Village Hall.

Every year the Cotswold Line Promotion Group charters an excursion train to take passengers from stations on the line between Oxford and Worcester for a day out at a special destination.
